Summer Roadtrip 2019

This summer, Ronen and Nick will lead a cross country roadtrip in their 1978 Volkswagen van, visiting farms, cooking with chefs and celebrating the open road. Highlighting Little Sesame’s commitment to travel, the roadtrip is a vehicle to explore new flavors, build community and experience faraway places.

Tour Stops

Fort Benton, MT

August 2nd

We'll start the journey at our chickpea farm under the big Montana sky. We'll spend the day with longtime friend and organic farmer Casey Bailey on his 4,000 acre family farm. At night, we'll share a dinner under the stars with a collective of renegade grain growers that are working to save our grasslands.

Portland, OR

August 7th

Then we'll venture to PDX. We'll hit some local farmers markets and cook a very special collaboration dinner at Tusk. Chefs Joshua McFadden & Sam Smith have built a national reputation for their aggressively seasonal vegetable-centric cooking celebrating the bounty of the Pacific Northwest. 

Tillamook, OR

August 9th

Next up, the Oregon coast. We'll travel to the coast for a day long fishing trip, catching the annual wild salmon run. We'll spend the day learning how local fisheries are working to protect our rivers, streams and oceans. We'll celebrate our catch over dinner with local chefs, farmers, winemakers at Jacobsen Salt Co. beachside farm.

Santa Cruz, CA

August 12th

Then we trek down to California through the redwoods, across the Golden Gate bridge and pull into surfer paradise Santa Cruz. We'll spend our day with a bunch of kids touring the Life Lab garden classroom, the epicenter of the farm to school revolution. We'll cook a nourishing dinner for the community before we hit the road.

Los Angeles, CA

August 14th

Then we roll down Highway 1 through Big Sur on our way to LA. Once we hit the City of Angels, we'll meet up with our chef friend Conor Shemtov at the iconic Santa Monica Farmers Market to gather ingredients for our final supper. We'll have a big send off at Mh Zh in LA to wrap up our epic journey!
